Sollife was founded in 1996 in Half Moon Bay, California, only half a mile from the big wave mecca of Mavericks. But performance surfboards was, is and always will be the focus for Sollife.
Our founder Scott Crump, a former professional surfer and world traveler, was competing selectively at the time and worked closely with a team of Santa Cruz rippers to develop the boards. Santa Cruz is only an hour down the road from half moon bay and is full of high performance point breaks and beachies. Things progressed fast, a WCT surfer at the time from Santa Cruz named Adam Replogle jumped on a few boards and got the inside cover spread of Surfing magazine and things exploded from there. Sollife quickly found retail partners at Santa Cruz surf shop, Monterey freestyle and up in Marin at the then Marin Surf Sports amongst others, most of which are still working with us today. The name Sollife was derived during a lengthy European road trip in mid ‘96. We were in Spain and we always wanted the sun as our board logo. The word sol is sun in Spanish.

At the time many of my close childhood friends were fading into the night and its ugly habits. I wanted nothing of it and was completely focused on surfing and the energy of living in the sun/daylight! Thus Sollife was born!

A dozen years later sollife is thriving on the gold coast of Australia. We have a youth focused surf team and are driving hard into the future. With a global group of factory riders from pacific islands, Europe, USA and of course Australia, things have never been brighter! Sollife still holds the same important meaning to all of us at the sollife family. Welcome to sollife!!!

Global Surf Network Receives 2011 Best of Norfolk Award
U.S. Commerce Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
 
NEW YORK, NY, December 5, 2011 -- Global Surf Network has been selected for the 2011 Best of Norfolk Award in the Party Planning & Event Consultants category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
 
The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2011 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

GLOBAL SURF NETWORK

Rob Beedie has been surfing for a long time. In 2012, the founder of the Global Surf Network will be celebrating 50 years of wave riding activities. Beedie is also one of the first surf movie enthusiasts.

"I have been an advocate of surf films since showing my first one to a packed house, in 1964, and continuing sharing the fun throughout the 70's, 80's, 90's on and on. I even lived through the 'surf film is dead' era", says Beedie.

In 2007, the Global Surf Network was born to bring the surf film and the independent surf filmmakers to venues where movie experiences can be amplified. Also, the organization founded by Rob believes there's a social side in surf films for stoking young and oldies.

The Global Surf Network is putting up several surf film festivals that promote the sport and boost new filmmaking careers.

The Hatteras Island Surf Film Festival, the Ocracoke Island Surf Film Festival, the Virginia Beach Surf Film Festival and the Outer Banks Surf Film Festival are some fine examples of surf movie screening.

Meanwhile, in 2012, Rob might get a movie director filming a documentary on his half-a-century passion for surfing.
